European History (pre-1848); World History
The Department of Social Sciences at Michigan Technological University seeks two tenure-track faculty members in History:
- World History – specialization in a non-Western area (other than Europe and North America) and capable of teaching a survey course in World History.
- European History – specialization in European History before 1848 and capable of teaching survey courses in European history
The Department of Social Sciences offers undergraduate programs in anthropology, history, and social science. The department is also home to two M.S. programs (Industrial Archaeology and Environmental Policy) and two Ph.D. programs (Industrial Heritage & Archaeology and Environmental & Energy Policy). The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses in his or her field and contribute to graduate teaching and research. Preferred areas of expertise for both positions include the early Industrial Revolution, history of technology, environmental history, social history of industry, or material-culture studies. The normal teaching load is two courses each semester. This is a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2012; Ph.D. expected at time of appointment.

World history. The Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh seeks applicants for a tenure-stream assistant professor in world history beginning fall 2012, pending budgetary approval. Ph.D. should be completed by September 1, 2012. The successful candidate will help design world historical curricula; teach courses in this field at both graduate and undergraduate levels, normally including one undergraduate writing seminar annually; and shape research programs and outreach initiatives in the context of our recently established World History Center.
