Beijing, 2011

Capital Normal University's Global History Center will host the Twentieth Annual Conference on its Beijing campus, 7-11 July 2011, in its state-of-the-art International Cultural Plaza. The main theme will be “China in World History”; the secondary theme will be "World History from the Center and the Periphery."
Conferees will be housed in the Plaza’s hotel at exceedingly reasonable rates (but there is a nearby Western, five-star hotel for those who want luxury and a four-star business hotel next to the Plaza), and all sessions will be held in the adjoining conference building.

Details regarding the 2011 conference will be posted on the WHA website during the Summer of 2010.

Albuquerque, 2012

The 2012 Annual WHA Conference will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from June 28th to July 1st, 2012. We are excited to be hosted for the first time by a public school district--Albuquerque Public Schools, with the venue at Albuquerque High School, the oldest public high school in New Mexico. While it may be the oldest, it is also state of the art, with full A/V support and high-speed wireless in all session rooms, hundreds of computers available to us, state-of-the-art lecture halls with excellent sound and light equipment, and a wonderful space for Exhibitors. Albuquerque is also a fantastic city with its charming Old Town, the Sandia Mountains as a backdrop to the city, a mild climate, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center all within a few minutes drive of the conference site. The area has a huge variety of natural, cultural, recreational, and culinary opportunities, one conference attendees will be sure to enjoy. Santa Fe is connected by high-speed Rail Runner train, and is reached in less than 30 minutes, and also offers an outstanding variety of visitor options. Our local affairs committee will ensure that this conference is definitely one of the best WHA has ever had. We look forward to meeting you there!

Details regarding the 2012 conference will be posted on the WHA website during the Summer of 2011.

Beyond 2012
The Conferences Committee is currently considering several proposed sites for conferences in 2013 and 2014 (which, by tradition, will be held outside the USA). Because no decisions have been made, the committee is still open to any and all proposals. Persons representing institutions that are interested in hosting a conference should contact A. J. Andrea at aandrea@uvm.edu.

Future Symposia
Assuming that the symposium in Istanbul meets expectations, the WHA is interested in exploring the possibility of co-hosting other symposia of limited scope at times and in venues that do not detract from its annual conferences. Persons representing institutions that might be interested should contact Andrea at the above e-mail address.
