2013 WHA Fremantle Symposium
Empire: Faith and Conflict

The University of Notre Dame is in the historic West End precinct of Fremantle (about 30 minutes from Perth by car or train). It is positioned on the Indian Ocean, between Fishing Boat Harbour and the Fremantle Port. It's a rich historical site, being also the first frontier of empire and colonisation in New Holland (Western Australia). It was on the beach adjacent to the University that the British landed their first settlement in 1829. The University and its precinct is a wonderful destination for conferences. There's a 4 star hotel within 500 metres, as well as several boutique hotels and b&b's near by. It's in a rich food and cultural precinct, with plenty of great entertainment. Wonderful historical sites and historical walking trails abound. For more information on the town and area, please see the following links.
