Conferences

The World History Association has organized a conference every year since 1992, bringing together academic historians, college instructors, and secondary school teachers of world history, as well as occasional symposia on special topics. Recent conference locations have included Puerto Rico, Ghent and Bilbao, as well as a number of American cities, like Boston; programs from some past conferences and symposia are available for download. The next WHA annual conference will be in Pittsburgh, USA from June 22 - 24, 2023.

From June 22-June 24, 2023, the World History Association, in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh’s World History Center, will be holding our 32nd Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Through the generosity of our donors, the World History Association is pleased to offer three scholarship options to support a diverse range of participation in our annual conference.

Thank you for considering presenting, chairing, or discussing at a panel at a WHA conference or symposium. We have assembled some guidelines to help make the process smoother and easier.

This is a rough draft of the conference program. Speakers have until May 15 to register for the conference and confirm their attendance, after which point a final draft will be posted. *Note, we will have sessions running from 8:30am-5pm Thursday June 26 through Saturday June 28, 2025
