Contribute to the World History Association

At the World History Association, we are acutely aware that our members and visitors to our website are deluged with requests for support.

We get it.  Many, many organizations and initiatives need financial support.   In the United States, many institutions and individuals have lost government funding and seek to make up for it through private fundraising.   Is it possible to respond positively to every request for support?

So, why donate to the World History Association?

Here’s why.   You should consider contributing to the World History Association because it’s incredibly urgent to preserve and advance public awareness that we are world citizens and belong to an interconnected, global community that continues, irrespective of the events in any one nation.   Members investigate, publish, and disseminate the scholarship and teaching that fuels classrooms and, by extension, students.    That’s what folks who record, preserve, teach, and promote global understanding and awareness through their work do.  That’s what this organization does: it supports those endeavors, ensures that they continue to flourish, and insists that those efforts are recognized and valued.

Our annual fundraising allows us to keep the WHA alive and thriving. There’s a precedent for this.   More than two decades ago, this organization was in serious financial peril.   It wasn’t at all clear that it would survive.   A group of its founders and energized members got together and each pledged an amount to become lifetime members and to establish an endowment.   It happened thanks to their passion for this organization and their recognition that if they didn’t step forward, perhaps no one would.   Thanks to those folks, the World History Association has a modest endowment.  Most important, the WHA survived and continued to grow, producing publications at a steady clip, organizing conferences and initiatives annually, and attracting new members across the educational and scholarly spectrum.

Your contributions can ensure that we continue to grow and thrive in a challenging era.   You can contribute to daily operations of the organization through the General Fund, directly benefit members of the community through the Scholarship Fund, and/or ensure the health and future of the organization through the endowment.  In order to remain an active and vibrant organization, this support is critical.

You can donate to the WHA in a number of ways. The simplest method is through PayPal or through Stripe; either method  enables you to use a credit or debit card.  You can also give directly through your WHA member account. Please remember that you can most easily access the member portal by opening a window on your browser that is private.   (On Safari and Firefox, that’s a “private window”; on Chrome, that’s a “new incognito window.”  On DuckDuckGo, that’s a “new fire window.”)

Your support allows us to encourage and strengthen the study of World History and foster an inclusive and diverse community of scholars, teachers, students and initiatives around the world.  Your involvement truly sustains and buoys this organization.   We appreciate you beyond words.
