Journal of World History

Founded by legendary world history educator Jerry Bentley (1949-2012) in 1990, the Journal of World History publishes research into historical questions across any era that requires the investigation of evidence on a global, comparative, cross-cultural, or transnational scale. The Journal is devoted to the study of phenomena that transcend boundaries of single states, regions, or cultures, such as large-scale population movements, long-distance trade, cross-cultural technology transfers, and the global spread and exchange of ideas. Contributions to the Journal engage with the historiographical, theoretical, and methodological approaches to world history, conceived broadly.

Along with individual articles based on original research, Journal of World History publishes state-of-the-field pieces, thematic special issues, considerations of pedagogy, topical special forums, and book reviews.
